Random Act Of Kindness MYSTERY BOX arrived on my doorstep from long time viewer in Australia. Thanks Steve!
This heavy box is full of older diecast cars and trucks, with the majority being Matchbox 1/64 scale mint and sealed in packages for nearly 40 years!
Join me for a deep dive into this very generous gift that is full of surprises.
Very recently I watched a number of vintage and rare Hot Wheels Redlines, Alternate Paint Variation, and Spectraflame Hot Wheels pass the auction on a few eBay listings, but one Hot Wheels BLUE SUPERVAN with flames caught my attention in particular. This BLUE VAN appeared at first glance to be the extremely hard-to-find Hot Wheels CUT-OFF CANYON Playset exclusive vehicle included in 1975, the only year that playset was sold with the SuperVan. The listing drew my attention in particular because the condition of the van appeared to be mint, which is very unusual, and the listing was a no-reserve auction which started at one penny, ultimately ending at $880 US Dollars! If this SuperVan was the real deal in this condition, it is very likely it would have sold for over $2000.
I made this video to educate other potential Hot Wheels collectors on the many ways these high-dollar collectibles can be faked or custom built to appear as if they are worth authentic collector prices. Be Warned and BE VIGILENT where you spend your hard earned dollars!!!
In today's video I review a wide selection of 1/64 scale M2 Machines by Castline, showcasing my favorite diecast versions of cars and trucks I love to collect. Although my enthusiasm started out high during the video unboxing of this large collection of vehicles I purchased over the last few months, watch as my disappointment in the quality and construction began to let me down, one truck and car after another. From misaligned and broken parts, to issues with paint, wheels, the overall quality did not meet my expectations as a long time collector of M2 products. Join me as we take a close look at many otherwise excellent models M2 produced this past year of 1970's Dodge and Ford pickup trucks, Fox Body Mustang, Chevy IROC Camaro, Bel-Aire, Plymouth funny car, Datsun, and more! Laugh and cringe as you watch me break one model after another during my review!

In this nostalgic deep dive, we explore the iconic Matchbox diecast vehicles produced during the years 1971 and 1972, showcasing a variety of models new to the 1-75 Matchbox Collection. We also take a page-by-page look at the original sales catalogues from this period, providing a glimpse into how these cars were marketed and sold.
As we go through these collectible vehicles, we’ll examine the condition of these vintage toys as they have aged, many of which have succumbed to the wear and tear of decades of play. These models, once vibrant and pristine, are now in varying degrees of wrecked condition, reflective of the malaise era, a time when production quality sometimes took a backseat to cost-cutting measures amidst high competition with the new-to-market Hot Wheels cars that were exploding in popularity.
You'll see:
* Close-up views of the 1971-1972 Matchbox cars: From classic cars to trucks, buses, and construction vehicles, witness the charm of these diecast models that were once the pride of many toy collections.
* The original Matchbox catalogues: Flip through the pages of these old catalogs to see the impressive line-ups of vehicles that were available for purchase during the early '70s. Compare the packaging and promotional materials with the cars’ current condition.
* Condition of vintage toys over time: Get a candid look at how the years have taken a toll on some of these once-pristine cars. Dents, paint chips, worn tires, and missing parts tell the story of their long history, showing how the malaise era affected the durability and quality of toys during the 1970s.
* A historical and personal perspective from your hose, O-Dawg, on the "Malaise Era": Learn about how the economic challenges of the 1970s, most notably due to stiff competition from diecast toy competitors, such as Hot Wheels, impacted the production and collector quality of toys, and how this period of cultural shifts influenced the design and durability of items like Matchbox cars.
Whether you’re a collector, a fan of vintage toys, or simply nostalgic for the toys of your childhood, this video offers a unique and fascinating look at the history of Matchbox diecast vehicles and the impact of time on these nostalgic treasures.
