Battling winds of up to 96 mph and heavy rain, this jaw-dropping landing showcases precision and expertise amidst one of the most severe storms to hit the UK in 2024. Storm Darragh caused widespread travel disruptions, power outages affecting over a million homes, and dangerous coastal conditions. Despite these challenges, this smooth landing is a testament to the skill and professionalism of modern aviation. The RH&DR is a famous and charming heritage railway located in Kent, England. It’s known for being one of the world's smallest public railways, running on a gauge of just 15 inches (381 mm). Here are some key facts:
History: The RH&DR was established in the 1920s by two racing drivers, Captain J.E.P. Howey and Count Louis Zborowski. Both were passionate about railways and miniature engineering. The railway first opened to the public in 1927, and although it was initially intended as a private venture, it quickly became a popular tourist attraction.
Route: The railway stretches 13.5 miles (22 km) from the town of Hythe to Dungeness, passing through scenic locations like Dymchurch, New Romney, and other picturesque villages along the Romney Marsh. The line offers a unique and beautiful way to explore the region.
