But what the bloody hell are we actually meant to eat?!
Forget TikTok doctors and diet trends.
Our ancestors ate whatever they found: nuts, fruits, seeds, and plants were the easiest catch of the day.
When we first found out about fire, it changed everything. Obviously.
Now we could cook. We were able to prepare and preserve meat.
Meat is more energy-dense than plants, and is high in B12, Zinc and Iron. All crucial for brain development.
And if you’re currently crying out about plant-based proteins, look at the DIAAS score. It clearly shows which sources are most efficient.
But even our under-developed ancestors knew better than to fight over which extremist diet did best.
We gladly ate all the vegetables, animals, and low-hanging fruit we could find.
Cooking meant better nutrient absorption of all foods.
Fast-forward to today. The healthiest people. Those living longest. Tend to exist in "blue zones".
Their diet plays an important part in their longevity. And they all seem to eat what we have known for millennia as the ideal diet.
A rich mix of fruits, nuts, seeds, vegetables, meats, fish, fats and of course, some good old bread and cheese. Basically, just avoid all the damn processed food.
