Today, we look at the fallout from the first talks between the US and Russia, consider the next emergency summit taking place in Paris, and look at one of Ukraine’s less talked about sectors, and its vital importance in this war. Later, our Defence Editor Danielle Sheridan is on the ground with British troops conducting a NATO exercise and hearing their reaction to reports that they could soon be deployed to Ukraine.

The UK’s inflation rate spiked to 3% in January, dealing a significant blow to Chancellor Rachel Reeves and raising fresh concerns about Labour’s economic strategy. With the Government pressing ahead with costly net zero policies, increasing national insurance by £25 billion, and significantly raising the minimum wage, many are questioning whether this surge in inflation was inevitable.
Rising prices continue to squeeze households and businesses, fueling fears that the economy is heading for a prolonged period of financial strain. Critics argue that Labour’s tax-and-spend approach is exacerbating the cost-of-living crisis rather than alleviating it. As inflationary pressures mount, confidence in the Government’s handling of the economy is waning.
Meanwhile, Labour is also facing fresh allegations of dishonesty. Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds has been accused of misleading the public by falsely claiming to have been a solicitor—despite never completing his legal training. This revelation raises serious concerns about transparency and accountability within Keir Starmer’s Cabinet.
With inflation rising and public trust in ministers faltering, Kamal and Camilla break down what this means for the UK’s economic future. Is there a way to stabilise the economy and rebuild confidence? And how can the Government regain credibility amid growing skepticism?

In below-freezing conditions, British soldiers, with guns flung over their backs, drag their bodies through snow-covered trenches for hours in an effort to hunt down and kill the enemy.
Tanks circle in the distance ready to fire and drones zoom overhead, providing intelligence to the men who are navigating the sprawling networks of mud tunnels, dug deep into the frozen ground where their adversaries hide.
While in this exercise the British troops are firing blanks and throwing fake grenades at Romanians to “clear out” the trenches in which they move, their presence on eastern Romania’s border with Moldova and Ukraine is a clear message to Russia: We are ready. We will protect Europe against Russia.
Exercise Steadfast Dart comes at a time when Sir Keir Starmer has pledged to put British troops into Ukraine in the event of a peacekeeping deal Donald Trump has promised to make with Russia.

Volodymyr Zelensky has postponed his trip to Saudi Arabia after it hosted talks between Russia and the US about ending the war in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president criticised the US-Russia meeting, saying talks “are taking place…about Ukraine - about Ukraine again - and without Ukraine”.
Mr Zelensky had been due to visit Saudi Arabia on Wednesday but his trip has been delayed until March.

Two figures loomed large at the Alliance for Responsible Citizens (ARC) conference in East London today. Donald Trump - whose playbook many of the delegates want to see copied in the UK - and a certain Nigel Farage.
Hot off the back of fresh YouGov polling that puts Reform in the lead on 27pc to Labour’s 25pc and the Conservatives’ 21pc, Farage took the opportunity to repeat to a cheering crowd that there would be no deal with Kemi Badenoch to unite the right.
Kamal and Camilla were watching side of stage, and put Farage’s views on the future of the UK right to former Tory cabinet minister and now editor of The Spectator, Michael Gove.
President of the Heritage Foundation Kevin Roberts was also on hand to explain just how much influence his think tank’s ‘Project 2025’ manifesto is having on President Trump’s administration so far.
And they also caught up with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Somalian-born activist, campaigner and critic of Islam, who explains why she thinks Islamism can be defeated.

A child was among three people critically injured after a Delta Airlines flight flipped over as it landed at Toronto airport on Monday.
At least 18 people were hurt after Endeavor Flight 4819 with 80 people on board crashed on an icy runway at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada at around 2.15pm local time (7.15pm GMT).
Footage showed the commercial jet, which had departed from Minneapolis just before midday, lying upside down on a runway blanketed in snow with one of its wings snapped off as passengers climbed out of the aircraft’s doors.

As the first phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire-hostage deal enters its final weeks, the region is on tenterhooks to see what will happen next.
Will the rest of the hostages be released and aid continue to enter Gaza? Or will the deal be blown up and fighting restart? And as we mark 500 days since the October 7th massacre, we’ll be asking to what extent Israel has achieved its original war aims.
Plus, we go behind the scenes at the most dramatic Munich Security Conference yet, and look at why deputy US vice president JD Vance’s speech left European leaders speechless.
