Scott Manley is someone who fell into youtube because he felt a deep compelling need to teach people orbital mechanics and rocket science so they could play Kerbal Space Program, now, years later the gaming videos are less important and the pure science is the main thrust. My degrees are all in Physics and Astronomy, so much of the rocket science and engineering I've learned is self taught, always learning, always teaching. I'm not a professional youtuber, I have a day job in software development which means I won't take lame sponsored content, or tell you to sign up for affiliate services to make a quick buck. However lots of generous people have asked to support my hobby via Patreon and I'm grateful to those individuals. Also occasionally shares cute videos of his kids.

The US banned supersonic flight in 1973, partly because of the noise, partly because US plane builders had decided they didn't want to compete with Concorde. However, NASA kept working on the boom problem, developing new understanding of how sonic booms form and propagate, and in turn technologies which might mitigate these.
Last week Boom Supersonic announced they wanted to get the FAA rules modified to be based on sound levels, rather than sound speeds, and now NASA is gearing up to fly their X-59 Quiet supersonic test aircraft.

My take on Asteroid 2024 YR4, which currently has a 2.3% chance of colliding with the Earth in 2032, an event that's likely comparable to a multi megaton nuclear weapon. The odds are still good that it'll miss, but the chances may look worse before they get better, and there's a real chance we can't honestly know the answer by April when it gets too faint to observe until 2028.
But this won't be the end of the world, and might be an opportunity to put the capabilities of DART into real world use.

NASA Ames hosts the vertical gun range, a unique hypervelocity test facility which consists of a gun capable of throwing projectiles at orbital velocities. This is used to test impact conditions at speeds far beyond those available to conventional guns, enabling experiments in planetary science and spaceflight engineering which would be otherwise impossible on earth.

I recorded this two days ago, but then the plane crash in Washington DC distracted me..... regardless it was late enough that I needed to finish this up.
We had both Blue Origin's New Glenn and SpaceX's Starship within hours of each other. The First really detailed Bennu sample results were published and Trump decided he liked the name 'Iron Dome' but appears to have asked for something the US can actually use.

Using real tracking data I tried to get a handle on why an Airliner crashed into a helicopter in Washington DC. This is in X-Plane being driven by flight tracking data using aircraft models that match the involved aircraft.
