The 2025 Acura RDX is powered by a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, standard AWD. Premium fuel is recommended.
We’ve always liked the RDX for its engaging drive, it has a sport tuned suspension, an available adaptive damper system with three different damping profiles. This system is available on the top trim in Canada and in the US on the Advance trim. The RDX comes standard with an acoustic laminate windshield, active noise cancellation and active sound control.
The 2025 Acura RDX gets a few updates to the exterior and interior including a new grille, sportier wheel designs, new paint colour options, an updated centre console layout with increased storage, larger cupholders, easier access to the wireless charger and a standard 10.2” display screen with a new wide screen model. What I am disappointed in is the trackpad, it is still here and while I can live with the button shifter, I am not a fan of the trackpad. Acura should have eliminated it like the brand did in the MDX.
What I do like about the 2025 Acura RDX is the comfortable interior, the seats are great for longer trips and there really isn’t any hard plastic, mostly soft touch materials. Plus it’s big for the compact SUV class and I like the flat floor in the rear so anyone sitting in that middle seat is much more comfortable.
In Canada, the 2025 Acura RDX starts at $58,021 CAD, A-Spec $61,851 CAD and Platinum Elite A-Spec $66,851 CAD (Pricing includes, freight, PDI and fees).
In the US, 2025 Acura RDX $44,700 USD, Technology $47,300 USD, A-Spec $50,300 USD, Advance $52,450 USD and A-Spec Advance $54,450 USD.
2025 Acura RDX fuel Economy is not stellar at 11.3L/100 km city, 21 MPG city and 9.1L/100 km highway, 26 MPG highway. The RDX can tow 1500 pounds.

This is a Motormouth couple car video talking about the 2025 J.D. Power 3-year dependability study. This time around, the brands that are below average.
Above average video: https://youtu.be/bZEM19NC0L8
This is J.D. Power’s 36th year for this study and it’s based on responses from 34,175 original owners of 2022 model year vehicles after three years of ownership. It focuses on problems experienced by these owners and covers 184 specific problem areas across nine major vehicle categories. They are Climate, Driving Assistance, Driving Experience, Exterior, Features/Controls/Displays, Infotainment, Interior, Powertrain and Seats.
There are many benefits of the study for automakers and suppliers. It helps them better understand the makes and models that are most trouble-free, how vehicle problems experienced compare with owners’ expectations, the types of problems owners consider most bothersome, problems that have a negative impact on loyalty and major components that are replaced during the first 3 years of ownership.
J.D. Power says it’s important to remember that these three-year-old vehicles were built during a time when there were major disruptions because of covid which caused supply chain issues and record high vehicle prices.
Problems related to software defects increase with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity being a problem, built-in Bluetooth systems and Wi-Fi are also among top problems. Personal device integration falls short with half of the issues related to smartphone integration, usage or connectivity. Over the air software updates help with 36% of owners indicating they performed one on their vehicle during the first three years. Only 30% of these owners say there was an improvement after the update, while 56% of owners say there was no noticeable improvement.
J.D. Power says, EVs see improvements in problems, plug-in hybrids get worse making them the most problematic of all vehicle fuel types. Hybrids experience the least number of problems, followed by gas models, pure EVs and diesel vehicles. The gap between EVs and gas models is closing.
New model launches struggle with 27 new models that launched in the 2022 model year only four have performed better than their segment average for dependability in the 2025 study. New models launched in 2022 average 241 PP100 whereas carryover models have 196 PP100 and perform better in all nine vehicle categories.

Lexus ranks highest amongst all brands for the third consecutive year of the study.
J.D. Power says, vehicle problems after three years of ownership have reached the highest level since 2009. According to the 2024 results, the industry experiences a 6% increase in problems per 100 vehicles. The rise in problems is partly attributed to mass market brands having software defects.
J.D. Power says the results of this study are not unexpected given the results of the J.D. Power 2022 Initial Quality Study which tracked problems early in the ownership period of 2022 model year vehicles. That year, the initial vehicle quality notably declined from 2021. Three years later the issues continue to be problematic.
J.D. Power says it’s important to remember that these three-year-old vehicles were built during a time when there were major disruptions because of covid which caused supply chain issues and record high vehicle prices.
