Freethink explores Dogtooth Technologies and the future of robot farming in this episode of Hard Reset.
There are a lot of ethical questions when it comes to using neurons to do compute tasks like build AI systems, but different forms of "biocomputing" are already being developed – and they're evolving rapidly.
“At its base, permitting reform means making it easier to build infrastructure in the United States, having more automatic approvals for projects.”

We seem to be on the precipice of a green revolution: Over the last 50 years, the price of solar panels has fallen by 99.5%. Over the last 30 years, the price of lithium ion batteries has fallen by 97%. Now, renewable energies like solar and wind are much cheaper than fossil fuels.
Building more renewable energy infrastructure should be easier than ever, right? While the market wants to build more clean energy infrastructure, our current environmental review laws and other procedural statutes drastically slow this process down, says Alec Stapp, co-founder and co-CEO of the Institute for Progress (IFP).
Some of the same laws that are put in place to protect people and our natural environment can halt the very innovations that seek to do the same. So, what’s actually holding back our green future? Stapp breaks down the bottleneck of the clean energy revolution.

Water shortages are becoming more and more frequent. Even in the US, aging infrastructure, contaminated wells, and failing septic systems leave millions without access to clean water. But wastewater infrastructure has barely changed in the last 250 years. Until now: Epic Cleantec has engineered a way to cut water use 50% with their water system that mimics the way astronauts reuse water in space.
Epic’s system captures water from dishwashers, toilets, showers, and faucets before it goes to the sewer, putting it through an advanced treatment in the basement of that building to turn waste water into clean water as well as fertilizer and renewable energy.
After you flush, or turn off the faucet, you probably don’t think much about where the water goes. But here’s why you should.
