In 2017 we bought a Sprinter van and converted it into our first tiny home on wheels. We loved living tiny so much that we ended up living in a van and traveling the world for 5 years. Taking our van everywhere from Canada to Mexico and even all the way to Europe and Morocco. Living in 60 sq-ft is tough for two adult humans so adding a 1 year old should get interesting. The goal? We'd love for Frankie to fall in love with living in a van so we can all travel together in this way!!

We're thrilled with season 3 of our podcast Reroot!!! Reroot is a safe space for us to have deep meaningful conversations between the two of us and with people who inspire us! Coming back to this project we knew we wanted to invest more energy into it so we needed to begin with a proper studio space for recording episodes and hosting guests. We began the renovations on this set a few months ago but as you see we are always tweaking things to get it just right (from the lighting to the special effects there is always so much to consider!). The second piece of the puzzle is that we want to be able to shoot content for Habit (our tea company) from this space and have team meetings. So, we get to work on redoing the other two spaces in our office.

How did we get here!?

We're Eamon and Bec, a Canadian couple who previously lived and traveled full-time in our self converted Sprinter Van!! When the pandemic hit in 2020 we made the difficult decision to abandon our van in Africa and fly home to Canada. Which led us to purchasing an abandoned cabin in the Canadian wilderness! While we will always be adding to, tweaking and finishing up this DIY home project we are ready to share a start to finish build as we really feel like it's come to a natural close. It's hard to believe how different this place looks from day 1 on the job site.

We moved out to our cabin in the woods 4 years ago & every time fall comes around we forget just how much work it is to winterize the cabin for the harsh Canadian winter that's ahead. We also want to be walking distance from home for ease and flexibility of life with our sweet baby girl Frankie. So, it needs to be big enough for our content creators to come in and have the room to create too!
Once we secure a location, we get to work learning how to set up a studio (something we know nothing about 😜 ).

Eamon first proposed in February of 2017 while we were on a safari in Tanzania. It was easily one of the best days of our lives! Eamon & Bec moved to a cabin in the woods in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Little did they know they would fall in love with DIY projects and renovating their space into the home of their dreams. Four years later and the renovations continue as their family expands and they need more room to host! This project took over 6 months to complete as they converted their greenhouse (not much for the whole green thumbs) that was previously built inside a beautiful Artic Acres Geodesic Dome https://arcticacres.ca/. Because they now split time between Toronto and the cabin the idea of growing their own veggies became further and farther fetched. We had our baby girl Frankie in November of 2023 and to say our lives have changed immensely would an understatement. I have personally been struggling with the lack of time to be creative and try new things for myself. Bec does a lot of the heavy lifting of parenting for us on a day to day basis and truly deserves this time away more than anyone I know SO I was both excited and nervous to take on solo parenting for 48 hours.
