I NEVER had Body Dysmorphia... Even when I was fat, skinny, shredded for my bodybuilding show.
That was only until, I started to gain healthy weight back after the show. Possibly in an unhealthy way...
That's when I came up with the theory that Body Dysmorphia might NOT be because of how you look, but something entirely else...

MY FIRST NATURAL BODYBUILDING SHOW DAY
This was the speech I would have given if I got the microphone on Show Day...
When I signed up for this bodybuilding show, it was for very selfish reasons. Especially as everyone knows, bodybuilding is a very self-centered sport.
But standing on that stage, I realized that isn't true.
Although you have to be the most dedicated athlete;
Practicing posing routines for hours on end;
Moving "metaphorical" trucks every day for cardio workouts;
Doing the same painful last reps over and over again;
Down to the simple will it takes to roll your broken body out of bed to do it all over again...
NONE of this would be possible without the people around you that actually make this journey possible.
I could write a novel here about how grateful I am for;
The hours our editor Adam spent cutting hundreds of hours of footage to the mere minutes you see.
The scrapped animations our editor Joseph refused to put into the videos because they weren't good enough.
The marks on Tanner's wrists from the rubber band he snaps every time we go over budget on our video production.
The times I looked at Faith during my prep, knowing how many bodybuilders go through this and how everything will be okay at the end.
Re-realizing my parents are the reason I am who I am.
How Jerrell taught me how to be a man of strength.
How Daniel would literally drag my body to and from the cardio machine, reminding me of the importance of physical fitness.
How Coach Jai was the first person to believe in me since the start of my bodybuilding journey.
How through this process, my cameraman Shariq became my best friend and saw him become a GigaChad himself.
But I'm going to leave you with the greatest lesson I am going to use for the rest of my life:
"Love yourself, love what you do, and love the people around you."
Because I know on my deathbed, that's all I will ever have wanted—self-love, community support, and the recognition that this journey isn’t just about the physique, but about mental health, connections, and the transformation we undergo together.
