Thomas Graham, a distinguished fellow at CFR, discusses why the United States must adopt a clear policy towards Russia. He explains that a simple cease-fire in Ukraine won’t restore the pre-conflict status quo because President Vladimir Putin has made it clear that he intends to assert Russia’s presence on the global stage.

Why should the United States be a leader in space? Co-chair of CFR's Space Policy Task Force and former congresswoman Jane Harman argues that, with USAID cuts underway, "space power is our best soft power tool." The United States can showcase its support for the rest of the world through collaboration in space: for example, the Artemis Accords—a set of principles established by NASA to guide cooperation among 53 member nations—allows countries to envision a better future for their development through space exploration.
